Curling Schedule got underway last evening at 7:00 p.m. Results were as follows: Nov. 13/56 Sinkins defeated Romaniuk Edmond defeated Bouchard Faust defeated Wellings Ostling defeated Duquette 0-0-0 CURLING CLUB NEWS Fourteen rinks curled last week for the LongLac Pulp and Paper: Co. trophy for mixed curling. Last Saturday evening Jack Wellings rink with Peggy Wellings, Ed Pineault and Jessie Ratchford were declared the winners of the mixed bonspiel, winning the trophy and the turkeys for first prize, Second place prize of ducks was won by Scotty Hamilton's rink with Sylvia Duquette, Tony Delaronde and Ann Kulcheski. Both teams showed some good curling. Until the 9th end Hamilton appeared to be headed for an casy win being 3 up with two ends to go. In the 9th Wellings scored a four 'ender which put him one up going home, He also scored a singleton in the last end to emerge with an 8-6 victory and the mixed curling trophy for this year, The Wellings rink was vic- torious last year and is now holding the trophy for the second straight year, Don Andersons rink also showed some nice curling to the gallery and emerged (Cont. on next col.) (OG a7 CURLING CLUB NEWS (Gont.)° _ victorious in the consolation event and. took home the ducks given as prizesin this event, A social evening took place in conjunc- tion with the final round of curling. Present were rinks' from Marathon and Schreiber who competed against two mixed local rinks skipped by Rune Ostling and - Louis Duquette. A very enjoyable evening was spent by all present. Music for danc- 'ing was supplied by Don Anderson's orchestra. Lunch and refreshments were served, Many thanks to Len Crockford and his committee for the work they did in connection with the social evening. Curling for the men's Curling Club commenced on Wed. evening, At present we have 19 rinks competing and still have hopes of having 20 rinks, The following is the complete list of rinks entered so far.
