SOFTBALL SALARY PICK UP FOUR POINTS On Thursday July 5th Salary added a précious 4 points to their total, by winning a disputed game from Shift #1 which was completed that day and then taking the evening's scheduled game 9-3. Salary had only 4 hits off pitchers Butler and Whalen but made the best of 8 bases on balls, and 4 errors to account for 4 unearned runs, Glen Sievers had 2 hits for Salary in 2 official trips to the plate; while Dave Desrosiers had 3 for 3 for the losers. SHIFT #1 TROUNCE SHIFT #3 ' On Monday night Shift #1 under the steady pitching of Frank Whitfield shellaced Shift #3 by a score of 19-0, Ray Stachiw hit a home run for Shift #1. There was only one error committed throughout the contest. Kit Thomas, pitching for Terrace, allowed only five hits while striking out nine and walking four. Gobiel, his opponent allowed six hits, struck out five and walked one. Thomas spaced the Marathon hits and was tight with men on base to keep the Maroons from scoring. Terrace was able to bunch their hits, especially in the first inning, when they got four hits plus a walk to score four runs. Bejauld hit safely twice for Marathon while Linde hit a triple.
