ICE CHIPS We would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the local Hockey Public for the disappointing events that took place last week-end, that is the cancellation of the two games with visiting Lakehead Hockey teams. ' We are herein reprinting a letter we received from the "Fort William Beavers Hockey Club" in which they have apologized and stated their reasons for not being able to play here, "Dear Sir: This letter is in way of a deep apology, at not being able to visit your town for the purpose of playing an exhibition hockey game with the Terrace Bay team this weekend, We know and realize that. your dis- appointment was great, and that you had ~ the unenviable job, of trying to undo such work that was already started in connection with this game. You may have my sincerest assur- ance, that everything possible was done at this end, to endeavour to ice a team. This could not be done, and I am sure that you will appreciate our position in having no alternative but to cancel the trip, rather than come down with no team at all, or a very poor excuse for one, It would have done your club an injustice, and would most certainly have given our club a poor name, ! wit We were just as sorry as you were that this step had to be taken at the very last minute, but let. me assure you, we had no other choice, I? it. is at all possible, we would like to be able to make it up to you in some way at a future date, but we are not sure if your tight schedule will permit this.
