ICE CHIPS ae: Approximately: 950 Hockey Fans clicked through the turnstiles at our local arena on Sunday and witnessed a fast and bruuing game of Hockey between the Terrace Bay Superiors and the rejuvenated and re-named Schreiber Lions, tele fek be ted The first period was not entirely all hockey, but was marred by fights, slashing, hooking, and a total of 18 pen- alties were handed out by Referees Gauthier and Hayes, The majority of these penalties were the "CHEAP TYPE" -~ with no\-blame placed on the Referees, but on the players themselves, They must realize that very few things are overlooked in the CAHA Rule Book and if the referees are to keep a game in hand they must call infractions, that otherwise as the game progresses would gradually snow-ball into a "Donny=brook", If the players used their "God-given Grey matter" while they were on the ice, they would never end up off the ice in the Penalty Box, and therefore lessen their teams chances of winning the game = 'There is no such thing as a HERO IN THE PENALTY BOX. The reading of a rule book must not only be done. by the Game Referees, but also by the Players, Coaches and Managers of participating clubs in our League. That is if it is Hockey we want] not SCHMOCKEY! Both clubs participating in last Sundays game showed signs of being able to "go far in League play; and if the calibre of Hockey increased over preseason games we will find ourselves in for many an en- joyable evening, eae Every player on the ice seemed to give his all, (possibly because team rosters aren't picked as yet) but no one stodd out head and shoulders above anyone else, nevertheless I would like to mention that the Terrace Bay line of "Osmar,' Whalen , Osmar, seemed to click a little better than other lines, including their oppos-~ ition. For Schreiber Figliomeni and Gavin were shinning stars with their import line of Sepanary~Gvora~Franchi in close pursuit, We seem'to have a line with Bulldog tenacities in Cavanaugh-Bond-Stachiw, they (Cont. on next col,) ICE CHIPS (Cont') were everywhere - Back-Checking, Fore-Check- ing, and in Schreibershair the whole time they were on the ice; Hats off to these youngsters may they have a successful year, Our Defense seems stronger with Bras- sard and Desrosiers playing their old steady game and the iiew lad Diduch showed up very favourably. Jack Lang was his old stalwart self and seéms to be in for a very good season, The line of Moro-Diduch Milani were effective and split 2.goals. and 3 assists, , ' We hope to see you all again Sunday November 27th when Terrace Bay meet Marathon.
