SHIFT #4. WIN SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP (Cont. ) On Tuesday night with their regular~ manager-coach Ray Belliveau back at the helm, Shift #4 were now determined to make it a clean sweep. He will teach French and Latin, and can teach a total of five languages. Mr, Wilson comes from Toronto and is a graduate of the University of Toronto. Prior to coming to Terrace Bay he taught in the Armed Services and before that he taught English in Quebec schools. A graduate of Walkerville Collegiate Institute in Windsor and of London Teachers College, Formerly a principal in Suburban, Windsor schools, He is Principal and teacher of Grades 7 and 8 at the Public School. Miss Eleanor Montey from Eagle River. | A graduate of Dryden High School and North Bay Teachers College. She has had previous experience in Keewatin and Ignace, and will handle the Grade 4 room, Miss Vera Bradshaw from Parry Sound, is a graduate of Toronto General Hospital and of Peterborough Teachers College. Her previous experience has been in Onemee and Parry Sound and will be teaching Grade 2 this year, Miss Marilyn Gordon from Marathon attended Marathon High School and North Bay Teachers College, Miss Gordon is teaching Grade 1, The regular staff members with whom most of the parents are familiar are Miss Lois Windle who teaches grade 5 and 6, Miss Pauline Dowling who has grade 3 and Miss Mabel Clayson who is taking care of the Kindergarten classes, SEPARATE SCHOOL NEWS St. Martin's School opened its doors on September 6th to 153 pupils which practically doubles the original enrolment of three years ago, Pupils and teachers alike were delighted with the freshly varnished desks, anc the general very clean appearance of the school, This work had been completed by Mit. Cormier, janitor, during the summer vacation. The staff consists of five teachers and welcomes two newcomers to the community. Miss Verna Claxton from Strathroy, Ontario is'a graduate of Hamilton Normal School and Notre Dame Academy, Waterdown, She has taught in Alberta, Hamilton and Delhi, Ontario, While in the west she took a spacial course in vocal and instrumental music at Edmonton. She has specialized in Grade I work for a number of years and is in charge of Grade I end music in our school. (Cont. on page 7)
