YOUR RECREATION COMMITTEE The ice is now melting in the arena and it is time to consider how best to use the building for summer activities, First of all, one hundred pairs of fibre wheel roller skates.are 'on hand and as "soon as the ice melts and the terazzo floor is scrubbed this activity can start. Other uses which might be considered for the arena could be the possibility of holding either a conventional or a cabaret dance during the summer months, The recreation committee will consider requests for a banquet permit for legit- imate uses of the arena for summer act- ivities,. : The mill engineering department" is™ also investigating the possibility of radiant heating in the arena by utilizing the present brine pipes, No answer is available on this as yet but if success- ful it would mean that the arena could be used for dances and shows anytime from May lst to November 15th. As usual, make your requests for reservations or permit to the recreation director. Any of the committee members will be glad to hear your comments. Chairman, M, O. Nelson, Asst. In addition, messages of friendship were read from Kiwanis 'Clubs across the border, Thirty-four years ago, U.S.-Canada "Good Will Week was established as a project of Kiwanis International. It was especially fitting that Kiwanis should take the lead in local observances of U.5S.- Canada Good Will Week, because this service organization confines its activities to the two great English-speaking North American countries, and their depend- encies, U.S.---Canada Good Will week is the period between April 24th and April 30th. This week includes the date of the signing of the Rush- Bagot Agreement (April 28th, 1617,) a document which virtually demilitar- ized the boundary between the U.S. . and Canada by calling for a limitation of Naval vessels on the waterways and instructing those which were deemed necessary to interfere in no way with the peaceful passage of merchantmen of either country. This agreement could be terminated by a six-months notice on the part of | either signer, It was this document which made possible the 3000-mile . unfortified border between the two countries which has never been violated. The Terrace Bay Kiwanis Club > takes pride in joining the 4,000 other Kiwanis Clubs in the United States and Canada to celebrate this cause of international friendship. o=-O-0 FOR SALE Priced for a guick sale - 1 - 14! outboard motor boat with motor, Apply K.
