RECIPE OF THE WEEK COCONUT FLAKE COOKIES 1-1/3 cups sifted flour a teaspoons double-acting baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt cups corn flakes or bran Makes 3/4 cup butter or other shortening 3/k cup granulated sugar or brown sugar firmly packed 2 eggs aL teaspoon vanilla 1-1/2 cups shredded coconut Heat oven to moderate (375°F,) Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder and salt, and sift again; add cereal flakes, Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, creaming thoroughly. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition, Add vanilla, Then add the flour and cereal flakes mixture, a small amount at a time, beating after each addition. Add coconut. Drop from teaspoon on ungreased baking sheet and bake 12 to 15 minutes, or until done. Mrs. Sylvia Duquette was hostess at a baby shower last Wednesday in honour of Mrs. Inez Reynolds. Fourteen guests were present and the many beautiful and useful gifts were presented in a tiny decorated crib. Luncheon was served at the conclusion of the evening by the hostess assisted by Mrs, Bill Wallin, Mr. and Mrs, F, B. Thomson returned to their home in Winnipeg Monday following a week's visit with their daughter Ruth Boudreau and family. Mr, A. Cadieux arrived from Kapus- kasing last Friday to visit with her son and family over the Easter holidays. Albert's sister, Miss Clare Cadieux ano her friend, Miss Mary Honeyman, both of the R.C.A.F,. also spent the past weekend visiting in Terrace Bay. They had been stationed in St. Hubert, Quebec, and were on their way to take up their new post in Vancouver, B.C, Clara and Fred Gould with the children spent a few days in the Lake- head returning on Tuesday. Betty and Don Anderson returned last Wednesday from a motor trip to Dryden where they were guests of Don's Grandmother and Grandfather, Mr. and Mrs, A. Sfreddo and also in McKenzie Island where they visited Betty's brother, Alex Sinkins.
