SUPERIORS WIN IN OVERTIME The high-flying Terrace Bay Superiors came close to meeting their match last night when they had to go into overtime to beat Marathon Mercurys 8-6, before 700 cheering spectators, who saw a much cleaner, but no less exciting game - a crowd thriller from start to finish, Playing minus left-winger Ray Stachiw, out with a back injury received in practice, the Superiors were forced to do a lot of line-juggling, resulting in ragged play and wild passing, which however, detracted little from the excitement of the game, with Marathon giving it everything they had. Defensively Bob Weaver, in the net, and Desrosiers and Brassard were outstanding; while up front the Osmar, Moro, Diduch line did a terrific job. Osmar gave a repeat performance with four goals to his credit; Diduch - two, one of which was the tie-breaker in overtime; Desrosiers and Rikey, - one each, while assists went to Osmar, Lang, Brassard, Diduch, Moro and Hayes. j Pearson starred for Marathon with four (Cont. on next col.) .
