Play opened very fast with 7 goals being scored in the first 10 minutes, Marathon getting the first counter with Terrace tying and going ahead on a power play while Marathon was short-handed, It was nip and tuck for the first period which ended in a 4-4 tie, From that time on it was Terrace's game, with penalties being handed out as the referees tried to keep things under control. The teams were for the most part evenly matched in man-power, however, as most of these penalties were doubles, and with a 7-4 lead going into the third period, time alone saved the opposition from a worse beating.
