SHIFT #2 WINS FRASER-= BRACE TROPHY Last Thursday night Shift #3 met Shift #4-Struct, in the final game of their best 2 of 3 Semi-Finals, In the lst inning Nick Chopty walked four men and geve up three hits to allow Shift #3 to jump into a big 5-0 lead. For the next four innings, the two teams played on an even basis, Shift #3 taking a seemingly- sale 9-3 lead into the 6th inning. Shift # didn't believe they were beat tho! and went out to prove it imnediately. Getting four hits and aided a lot by 2 very costly #3 errors, Shift #4 had the crowd yelling by scoring six runs to tie up the game, In the 7th inning Henry Krahn applied the clincher for # when he blasted a long homer into deep left field, Shife #3 put 2 men on the bases in the last of the 7th with onely one out. The next man up hit a hard drive over second which looked like a clean single. Henry Krahn made the play of the series when he grabbed the drive and stepped on 2nd for a nice double play to end the game and put Shift #4-S,. into the Finals with Shift #2, Cliff Woods hit 3 for 4 for Shift #4. Sunday afternoon a good crown came out to support the kids and contributed a total of $47.35, which was excellent. Ken Hutchinson won the rod and reel donated by the Hudson Bay Company. The crowd saw a very colourful nine inning game between two All-Star teans from the league, the Sads, managed by #2's Bill Sadowick, and the Gills, managed by #3's Dan Gillis. The game was very close until the 8th inning when the Sads scored 2 runs to take a 9-6 lead and added 2 more in the9th:to finally win by an 11-8 score.
