CONTINUATION SCHOOL We are not too. certain whether it is the student body or the staff that is the happier that the summer vacation is almost over, The fact that some of the staff are already working would indicate that the teachers are the more eager to get to work, perhaps with the fond hope that maybe if they catch the students napping the first day or so, they might. get some work done before Touch Rugby, Track and Field, and Initiation occupies all the thinking time of the students, Certainly, it is good to be back in Terrace, Tourist Camps have their good poirits and it is fun to slave and labour for the comfort and well being of tourists- rather than the intellectual development of our young people, But it is also a pleasure to return to these young people and note how much two months have developed and: changed them, Right now I am anxious for the first day of school to see which students will be returning and which will be drooping out. I'll be glad to see the ones who return but there will be a pang of remorse for those who quit, for in this modern Gay and age, a high school education at least is needed just to understand and operate the gadgets we gather around us, Our staff has been increased by the addition of one extra teacher to help handle the increasing enrolment which this year will be approximately sixty. (38 in 152, 45 in 153). Mr. Walter Fedechko, a graduate of the University of Manitoba, with two years postgraduate work, will be teaching Math. and Chemistry, while Mr, (Cont. on next col.) For the benefit of the Grade IX students, new to our ways, the first morning of school will consist of reg- istration, time-table, and book lists, Then, since the school is handling all textbooks this year, the afternoon will be set aside for the purchase of these books. To prevent delay and.inconvenience, would you please check over the available second-hand books before Tuesday so that _if additional copies' of new books are required, an order may be placed immed-- iately.
