LADIES' SOFTBALL (Cont, ) to the Recreation Director, has agreed to help out on the coaching job. We have had several requests from some of last year's players and interest is high among the younger girls. So come on - let's attend the meeting and see if we can't get the team back into operation. If we can get enough interested players, it is hoped that we can book games with the Lakehead teams, Marathon, Nipigon, etc, Time of the meeting is approximately 8:15 pem, directly after the men's softball game tomorrow night. When picking up the key there, please remember to sign for it and return it as soon as you are through with it. Dr. David Acal, Terrace Bay's new Dentist will arrive in Terrace Bay on June 26th, and begin his practice very soon thereafter, The Doctor's equipment has already arrived, Dr, Acal is a graduate of the University of Toronto, He practiced at Kapuskasing and for the past year has been in practice in St. Catherines, Ontario. o--0--0 MINING 16,049 CLAIMS REGISTERED IN FIRST QUARTER Prospectors in Ontario have been extremely active so far this year, accord~ ing to figures recently released by the Ontario Department of Mines. During the first three months of this year, the number of mining claims staked amounted to 16,049 as against 4,261 for the same period in 1953. The greatest activity has been in the Port Arthur--Kowkash Division which shows 9,442 claims recorded as against 561 for the same period last year. Eastern Ontario had 2,458 while the Sud-. bury region had 1,775. Recordings in the other districts were Fort Frances 144; Kenora 76; Larder Lake 227; Montreal River 81; Parry Sound 145; Patricia 21; Porcupine 67; Red Lake 422; Sault Ste, Marie 833; and Temiskaming 138, Number of licenses issued during the three-month period amounted to 2,855 and the number of licences renewed was 5,419, o-0--0
