Under the brilliant pageantry of Christmas lights,. most of us, no matter how busy we are, stop at some time to remember what the lights mean. For whatever your religion, whether the birthday which Christmas celebrates is even a part of it. most of the world recognizes that embodied in the Christmas symbol is a great part of the hope of man, The hope of man is fsrever in its young. Always the young coming forward, jnevitably, to move into the places whero the world's future is determined---the top places, the counsels of the wise, the peacemakers---or the warmakers. Once, they were children, these top people. And what- ever their role now, or to come, once they were small---very small---and once some of them were hungry and frightened and badly (cont, on next col.) wa Page & treated and neglected and pushed aside. And vexyoften, ni very often, the Christmas festival was celebrated all around then, but net by them. There isn*t much doubt that some of them grew up to give great trouble to a world which had not bothered to trouble about them, And so, this December, instead cf re- minding you that, the seventeen year-old, are the hope of the world, we suggest that you turn yorhead and look back behind you at all the little ones, Not just the little ones of your own family circle---the cherished children ycu know-----but the other children, the all-but-forgntten ones, For they are the future sf your world. 0-0-0 AROUND THE TOWN Our sympathy is expressed to Dorothy and Sammy Ballantyne on their recent ber- savement,.
