In Terrace Bay Public School there were on hand three of last year's staff waiting to greet five new teachers and an enrolment of 190 pupils, This compares favourablY with last year's 173 children. The most important addition to our staff is Mr, Charlie Briggs who formerly taught at Deep River and Camp Borden before coming to Terrace Bay. Accomoanying him were his wife, Marj and their three children. Welcome, Mr. Briggs! We hope you'll like it here, Mr, Dick Downey is our exchange teacher from Nanaimo, B. ©, who is teaching grades 6 and 7. He is widely travelled and promises to bring us many new ideas, Arrived from St. Catherines to teach, grades 4 and 5 is Helen Garratt whose home is in the Lakehead, Helen had a sneak preview of Terrace Bay as she spent an enjoyable summer at Nishin Lake, near here, Dorothy Anne Whyte is back again teaching grades 2 and 3. She has had a wonderful summer in Winnipeg and at Silver Islet, From Fort Frances comes Vi Mattson who has completed a vear's teaching in Ottawa. She has grades 1 and 2. Vi and Dorothy are old cronies. Watch out] Pauline Dowling has a straight grade I, She arrived a week early from Stayner and appears to be well settled and well known already, Last year she was in Sudbury. Another "old faithful", Pat Honer, was at her desk early Monday morning: to greet her kindergarten little ones with a big smile. Beulah McAdam is again teaching music to the three schools, Beaause of the out standing success at the Lakehead last year, we hold in store for her continued success again this year.
