REGULATIONS REGARDING CUTTING IN WOODLOT A woodlot has been opened up in an area about 3/4 of a mile east of the mill by a road which follows a westerly route from a point on Highway 17 just north of the overpass. This area has been set aside as an area for the procurement of fire wood by the residents of Terrace Bay. The following regulations must be adhered to: 1-+Prior to any cutting, a permit must be obtained, Applications for permits may be obtained at the Administration Office care of Miss Wynne Marshall, 2=All slash accumulated from such cutting shall be neatly piled in a clear space where it can be later burned. DO NOT BURN ANY SLASH NOW!!! Burning permits am instructions will be given later. 3-Normal rules of the Department of Lands and Forests with respect to cutting MUST be followed and you will be held responsible for seeing that the area is properly cleaned up and that stumps left are no higher from the ground than the stump diameter, For any further information regarding cutting rights and Department of Lands and Forests regulations in this matter, contact any of the volunteer fire wardens or the Fire chief. 0-0-0 OUR MILL TO COMPET2 IN NEW SAFETY CONTEST A new Safety contest which will embrace 10 pulp and paper mills in this area will commence at midnight on June 30th, and continue until December 31st of this year, During this period the time charges of each on-duty lost-time accident will be computed on a Limited Severity basis whereby the maximum time charge per accident will be limited to 26 days, It is expected that the contest will stimulate a lot of competitive spirit between the mills concerned as each will be striving for a trophy which, it is hoped will be donated for annual competition, Adding still further interest to the contest is the fact that a "white elephant", "goat" or some other suitable emblem will go to the mill tin the cellar" at the end of the contest period, This contest is the brainchild of a mceting held recently in Kenora by the Northwestern Branch of the Ontario Pulp and Paper Makers' Safety Association during which Fred Soughton was appointed Contest Chairman.
