Coe, R. Wallwin and E, L, Veitch. Four others who will be serving again for another year will be: Mrs. H. Marsh, W. C. Borsum, Dr. K,. Vickers and C, E, Paget. Also serving on the Board will be Mrs, G, Maitland, as President of the Ladies! Auxiliary. During the meeting, several amendments to the consti- tution were presented and notified by the Congregation in addition to reports being read and adopted for 1949, 0-0-0 PREVENTION OF COLDS With such unseasonable weather and such great variations in temper- ature from day to day, colds and sore throats are again very preva- lent. The following are a few precautions against the diseases (1) Avoid crowdssecerecse remember colds are very contagious. (2) When coughing or sneezing be sure to keep the mouth and nose covered, Cold germs can travel as much as ten'feet in the air. (3) Dress to suit the weather. Don't go outdoors in your shirt-sleeves, and don't work indoors all day in heavy jackets and sweaters. (4) Avoid draughts as far as possible, Also avoid be- coming over-heated or chilled. Avoid fatigue.....a cold will take hold particularly if you are over-tired,. Don't neglect a'cold. Report to the First Aid Room at the first sign of one coming on. If a cold hangs on, if there is a persistent cough, or if a cold leads to such come plications as an ear infection, consult your doctor at once. Remémber......lost time from work means lost wages......it costs less to prevent than to cure. 0-0-0 ST. MARTIN'S W&N'S CLUB At a recent meeting of the club, the following officers were elected to office for the year 19503 President - Joe Marcella; Vice-President - Phil Stuart; Secretery - Terrence Cochrane; Treasurer - Peter Gombola, 0-0-0 CURLING NEWS The 1950 Curling Schedule got underway on Monday night. There are 15 rinks in the club this year and these are split into two groups, Group "A" con- sists of 7 rinks and group "B" of 8, ; Each group will play a "Round Robin" and a record will be kept of wins and losses, On the completion of this round, a new schedule consisting of two groups will be drawn up with the Losers and winners in each group comprising the two new groups. The draw committee are hoping to complete three "Round Robins" in the season if at all possible, The rink winning the most games during the season will be declared the Club champions. Scheduled games will be played on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and the ice will be available to 211 members on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for grudge games, practice or what-have-you,. Under the guidance of their President, Lorne Woodard, a band of Terrace Bay's "Soop'sr Uppers" will journey to Marathon on Sunday, to take on the best that club can offer in defence of Terrace Bay's challenge to bring the Chapple Trophy back here with them. Rune Ostling will s':ip a rink with Ernie Haight as Third, Bev Smiley as Second and Jim MacDonald as Lead, The other rink will consist of Jack Wellings, Skip, Jim McLeod as Third, Gordon Dodge, Second and Ed Pineault as Lead, Remember - any member may get a rink together to play for the Chapple Trophy as long as the club is notified in advance. 0-0-0 BOWLING Now that League Bowling is underway, there are a few rules and regulations that that the players should know and observe. A copy cf the Constitution and the C.B.A. rule book are posted prominently at the alleys to settle any disputes. It is drawn to the attention of all team captains that it is their responsibility to collect the 75¢ entry fee from each of their players and turn it over to the Treasurer, Frank Sechesky or to Leon Checkryn at the alleys. This entry fee will be used to cover the expense involved in awarding prizes and having a banquet at the end of the season, Captains are asked to be sure that this is completed before the end of January. Men's League - Doug Gow of the Machine Room team had the High Single of 284 and also the High | Triple of 744 last weck when his team trounced the Mill Overheads to take four points, The Keglers and Structural took two points each in the League opener. Pulp Pushers walked away with four points from the Horizontals, while the Roller Bearings took 3 of the 4 points from the Spark Plugs. cont'd on Page 4,
