-- Volume 4, No, 44 LARGEST CIRCULATION IN TERRACE BAY Noveitber 24, 1949, -- ------ ---- -------- ee KIMBERLY-CLARK CORPORATION Neenah, Wisconsin November 17, 1949, Mr. D. C, Porter, Mil). Manager, LongLac Pulp & Paper Company, Lid, Terrace Bay, Ontario, Conadae Dear Don? On October 7, it was a pleasant privilege to send you a teletype message of congratulations on the completion of fifty-three consecutive accident free days, My congratulations were directed to all of the personnel of the LongLac Pulp & Paper Company with the hope that the experience would continue. An up to the minute report now advises that the personnel of your mill have extended this experience to ninety-four days without a lost time disabling injury. Information also indicates that your people have two objectives, (1) to' complete 100 safe days and (2) to extend the safe man hours to a total of 500,000, Because each individual knows the many benefits of accident free working conditions, I know each one is doing his job in the safest possible manner and giving full consideration to the safety of his co-worker. Congratulations to all for their fine spirit and effort. Na accidents mean less suffering and more happiness. I sincerely hope the gang at Terracé Bay reach both objectives and that the good experience continues. Sincerely yours, (signed) Henry G, Boon, Vice-President in 'Charec of Operations. 100 SAFE DAYS Since the above letter was received from Mr, Boon, LongLac employees have gone on to achieve one of the two objectives referred to in the letter. By last Monday midnight, 100 days (more than 360,000 man hours) had been worked without a disabling lost-time accident. During our first calendar year of mill operation, this is indeed an accomplishment and yet there remains one further objective which we should all strive to attain this year. By operating safely until December 30th we will have chalked up a half a million safe man hours. By preventing accidents and establishing records the important thing to bear in mind is the fact that such successful efforts spare people from the pain, suffering, loss of pay and other evils brought about by accidents, And it should ever be remembered that accidents don't always happen to the other fellow, they can happen to any one of us, Each one of us should, therefore, do everything possible to continue to work safely and there- by safeguard our own future as well as that of our fellow-employees,.
