BAY (as reported by Harry Ganja) On Saturday evening, September 24th at the Schreiber Arena, Terrace Bay was represented by eleven boys in the fight card sponsored by the Schreiber Rink Committee, The results of the bouts which ranged from the paper weight division to middle weight were as follows: Paperweight - Jackie Marsh vs. Terry McInnes - Draw. Fly weigt - Timmy McInnes vs. Johnny Galvin - Draw. All four above boxers from Terrace Bay Club. Bantam Weight - Jimmy Sweet, Terrace Bay decisioned Jim Eckmier - Schreiber. Fly Weight - Stanley Savoy of Terrace Bay displayed fine boxing skill in outclassing Wally Stokes of Schreiber. Feather Weight - Jake Compton of Terrace Bay lost by a Technical Knock-out to Bob Martin 'of Port Arthur who has had considerable boxing experience. Welter Weight - Lionel Gaulet of Terrace Bay lost by a Technical Knock-out to Cosmo Figlomini of Schreiber, Welter Weight - Slugging Pete Diduck of Terrace Bay in his first fight of his career won a unanimous decision over Russ Weaver of Schreiber. Welter Weight - Tommy (Tucker) Sernesky of Fort William who represented Terrace Bay defea= ted Len Gaudette also of Fort William. Tommy, who is a brother to Bill Sernesky amazed the crowd with his tremendous hitting power. Middle Weight - Herb Stoot of Fort William decisioned Bill Hogard also of Fort William, In the feature event of the evening Jimmy Steeves of Fort William outpointed Bill (eh-n) to~ als of Terrace Bay to win the five round bout by one single point, in the first round a short delay was caused by Sernesky when his foot caught and ripped open his boxing shoes, The second round, which was very fast and furious was tough on the Terrace Bay fighter who strained the muscles in his left forearm and had to manage to finish the best he could. The five rounds, fought at a very fast rate proved to be a hard battle for both boys who gave it their best. 0-0-0 TALENT SHOW What do you do on Thursday nights? Not very much, eh}! These shows will be held in an Open House manner, all you have to do is come in and sit down and be part of an appreciative audience, until such time as you get up enough courage to strut your own stuff.
