e tregte ¢ HOUSE LE/.GUE HOCKEY SEASON OFFICIALLY OPENED : BARONS DEFEAT BOLBERS 3 - 1 4S DIDUCH SCORES TWO GOALS TT A President Bill Borsum officially got House League Hockey underway last Mondey evening and with all the interest shown, Terrace Bay is assured of keen gompetition during the season, The two teams which met in the action packed opener were Murdo Campbell's "Barons! (Team 4) and Jim Clancy's "Bombers" (Team 1) ; : Played at a fast pace throughout, the game was watched by about 50 spectators standing in the special shelters at the sides of the rink, The Barons opened the scoring in the first minute of play when Al, Marostica picked up the puck at centre ice and passed it to rugged Pete Diduch who made no mistake in ringing up the Barons first counter. The second tally for Barons came from the stick of Johnny Holancin on a beautiful solo effort just before the first period ended, The start of the second period saw Clancy's Bombers turn the tables when Harry Ganja, teaming up with wingman Harold Marsh, scored the only tally fot the hard fighting Bombers. The final goal:of the game came when Pete Diduch scored his second goal of the evening on a pass from Al Marostica, At this point it should be noted that Bombers loaned two players to Barons for the game since some of the Barons players worked overtime, The geome which was played without a penalty was very fast and very rugged in spots particularly when Bev, Smiley and Frank Whitfield of the Bombers used their weight to advantage in heavy checking. Although a number of scoring Opportunities were missed, the boys will no doubt polish up considerably on their play as the season progresses, Lineups Barons: Goal-L. Peck; Defence - W. Sizler, P.
