With a wind blowing that neared gale velocity, fire of an undetermined origin broke out north of the Blue Jay basin above Hydro Camp #1 and quickly spread until it reached the basin less than a quarter of a mile from the camp itself. Workmen from the Hydro and Terrace Bay projects held the blaze in check in the basin but late in the day the fire had spread against the wind back into heavy timber in the hills where crews fought the fire until 3:00 a.m. Fridey morning when it was brought under control. Later' in' the morn- ing firefighters returned to insure that all remaining isolated embers were extinguished. The question of how. the fire started remains a mystery but its proximity to our job and our homes forcibly emphasizes the fact that we dare not take the attitude that ee can't happen here", The constant threat of fire ought to make everyone doubly careful with anything that might start a fire. 0-0-0 ANGLERS CONTEST Now that the fishing season is really getting underway, it's just about time to turn in the "big fellas" for weighing at the Barber Shop where Maurice Kulcheski is the Official Judge of Terrace Bay's Second Annual Anglers Contest.
