TERRACE BAY WOMEN'S INSTITUTE ORGANIZED ° Terrace Bay ladies met last Friday afternoon, April 9th in the Recreation Centre for the official organization of the Terrace Bay 'Women's' Institute. Attending the meeting from Fort William and Port Arthur were Mrs. J. H, Booth, district president, Mrs. R. G. Purcell, ten federation representative and Mrs. Je Cooper, district secretary. Acting as chairman of the meeting was. urs, Ri 'Ostling, through whose. efforts the Terrace Bay branch was organized, An outline of the aims, objects and methods of the organization wag presented by Mrs. Booth. Mrs. Purcell' 'stressed in her remarks the national and international scope of the Women's Institutes. Mrs.' Qcoper outlined the work of Women's Institutes through various convenors and standing committees, An election of officers was then conducted by ve Booth with results as follows: President - Mrs. Richard Frick; lst Vice-President - Mrs, T. S. Hodgkiss; &nd Vice-President Mrs. Wm. Lowe; Secretary - Mrs, P. Harris;' District Director - Mrs. A. R. Ostling; Branch: Directors - Mrs. E. arene Mrs. C¥ E.. Paget, Mrs. F. 'Oy, Soughton; Pianist - Mrs. T. S. Hodgkiss; Auditors - Mrs. M. R. Lemon, Mrs. J. Graham, 'Following the elections, the newly elected officers were asked to assume their re- sponsibilities and the meeting closed withthe singing of the Institute Ode and the nation- al anthem. Following the meeting, tea was served, The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Re. Wallwin on en evening, April 19th. r ' 0 'O*0 CAMER/. CLUB PLANS Members of the Terrace Bay Camera Club met again on Monday April leth in the Personnel Offiee. At the meeting plans for the near future were discussed and made. The second field trip of the club Will' be held on Sunday May 2nd when members will take pictures along the shore of Lake Superior. Tentative plans were made for a visit by two members of the Hortined siabh Ontario Camera Club to Terrace Bay on or about,the fourth week-end in May at which time 35 mm, kodachromes of Bryce and Grand Canyon are expected to be shown, All camera enthusiasts at Terrace Bay are cordially invited to become associated with the Terrace Bay Camera Club and will be most welcome at the next meeting to be held in the Personnel Office on Monday were April 26th at 7:30 p.m. 6 0:6 DEADLINE FOR INCOME TAX RETURNS APRIL 30 Attention is drawn to the fact that Canadian Income Tax returns must be made by April 350th, after which penalties for late filing apply. Care should be taken in selecting the proper form. When income is cver $3000. or investment income over 15004 the "T-1 General" form must be used. Persons with income less than $5000. including an investment income of not over $100. use either a "T-1 Special" or the new postcard size form known as "T-1 Employees 1947", Persons filing the postcard type 'toad will be pitlinpil cof balance owing by the Income Tax Department. All others should remit the balance of tax owing when returns are made. Cash should not be sent when making remittances. All cheques or postal notes should be made payable to the Receiver-General of Canada.
