James Flaherty ; landed on shore on raft at foot of Arthur Street ; died 1892 ; played a big part in building of town ; born in Ireland ; was in business at the Bruce Mines until 1868 ; construction of Dawson Road had started ; came to Port Arthur on board Algoma and James Dickinson ; built Mariaggi Hotel, called The Queen's Hotel until he sold it to Mr. Mariaggi
