Elsey ; retires as regional biologist with the Ministry of Natural Resources ; province's first field biologist ; started working in Kenora in 1947 ; gathered information about moose ; moose season closed during 1949 and 1950 due to low population ; cause of decline not determined ; experimented with special hunting seasons ; instrumental in supplying of lakes with pickerel ; received masters degree from University of Saskatchewan ; came to Thunder Bay in 1963 ; photo
