2 NORSHORE SENTINEL â€"THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20, 1960 CHURCH NEWS SCHREIBER The Schreiber Catholic Women's League regular October meeting was held in the Guild Hall with 51 members present. Mrs. H. Shack presided. Father Cano opened the meeting with a prayer. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Mrs. Iris Pegraro. Correspondence was read by Mrs. Norah McGuire. The financial report was given by Mrs. Helen Souliere. The following convenors reports were given: Girls Clubâ€"Mrs. S. Kusik reported the girls would hold the Living Rosary some time in October; spiritual report was given by Mrs. Elizabeth Perrault; education by Mrs. June Sisson; social action, Mrs. Irene Moorey asked for used clothing which will be sent to St. Joseph's Orphanage to be used for the Indians at Sioux Lookout; citizenship and immigration, Mrs. Phyllis McPharland reported her committee had spent 20 hours teaching English to new Canadians and she had spent two hours in Health work at the school. The Turkey Supper to be held Nov. 2 in Guild Hall will be convened by Mrs. June Sisson and Mrs. Iris Pegraro. The draw for the stereo-phonic record player will be held at the supper and members are asked to turn in tickets to their group captains as soon as possible. Mrs. P. J. Leblanc agreed to place the Memorial Day wreath at the cenotaph on Nov. 11. Father Cano spoke briefly on the mission which will be held Oct. 16-23 for ladies and Oct. 23-30 for men. An invitation was extended to all members of any parish to attend this mission at which Rev. John Pesce, C.P., will preach. Guest speaker of the evening was Mrs. S. A. Helminck of Terrace Bay who gave a very interesting talk on the Girl Guide and Brownie Organization. It was decided by a unanimous vote to organize a closed Brownie pack to be sponsored by the C.W.L. Mrs. Keating offered to lead a Brownie pack. Mrs. Helminck invited any member to attend her Brownie meeting any Tuesday evening at 6:30 in the Recreation Centre in Terrace Bay. Mrs. Jackie Trembley and Mrs. Keating were welcomed as new members to the meeting. The meeting was closed with a prayer, singing of a hymn, and O Canada. Lunch was served by Mrs. Val O'Keefe and her committee. BEARDMORE St. Paul's United The Explorer's group of St. Paul's United church made a collection of preserves, jams and pickles as a Thanksgiving gift to the Red Cross Hospital. Watch the bulletin board in town and at Leitch for news of their next project. RED ROCK The Women's Auxiliary of the Anglican Deanery of Superior will hold their annual meeting on Wednesday, October 26, at St. Peter's Church, Red Rock. The meeting will begin with the celebration of Holy Com- munion at 11 a.m., followed by lunch served by St. Peter's W. A., and the business session following. At the same time the clergy of the Deanery will be holding their annual meeting. Clergy from the parishes of Nipigon, Schreiber, Marathon, Manitouwadge, White River and Wawa will be present. ST. HILARY'S Most Rev. E. Q. Jennings, Bishop of Fort William, will administer the sacrament of confirma- tion to a class of 90 at St. Hilary's Church, in Red Rock, Sunday at 3.30 p.m. Those to be confirmed and their sponsors will meet in the church hall at 3 p.m. NIPIGON Form Hi-C Group The Nipigon United Church has formed a Hi-C youth group for teenagers from 14. to 18 years. Meetings are held every Monday in the church basement at 7.30 p.m. Anyone interested in joining the group is asked to contact Herb Jones or Barry Borthistle. Officers for the year are: President, Herb Jones; vice-president, Phyllis Johnson; secretary-treasurer, Joan Heald; social convenor, Carol Walter; music convenor, Margaret Walter. IMMANUEL LUTHERAN The Immanuel Lutheran Church held a cabbage roll supper Sunday, which proved to be an overwhelming success. The hall was decorated in a fall theme, featuring fall leaves, jack-o-lanterns and flowers. Over 300 persons crowded into the hall to enjoy a delicious meal.
