After many years of waiting and hoping, the people of Nipigon and Red Rock finally have a golf course of their own. The course, on the site of the Ruoho Dairy Farm, is rapidly coming into shape with a solid group of volunteers laboring every night on the fairways and sand greens. The course has been laid out and a diagram of the layout will appear in the Sentinel next week along with a general story on the golf course. The fairway mower arrived last week and the grazing field now look the part of a golf course. Signs have also been erected at every tee and green. To date no name has been officially given to the course. Can you think of a suitable one? LAST FISH DERBY NEAR Have you won your prize in one of the district's many fish derbies this year? Last chance to be among the winners is Sept. 3 and Sept. 4 when the 4th Annual Thunder Bay District fish derby takes place. A total of $5,000 in prizes will be awarded in four classes of fishing; speckled trout, lake trout, northern pike, and pickerel. Fishing in all lakes within the limits of Thunder Bay District is acceptable. Check-out will commence Friday, Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. until 12 midnight and from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at the following points: Green Acres Service, 2841 Arthur St.0 Quick Auto Service, Cumberland St. at Cameron; Hodder Ave. Service, Hodder Ave. at Arundel; Cloverleaf Service, Cor. Pine Portage Rd. and Nipigon Highway; McKenzie Inn, Nipigon Highway. Weigh-in will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, Sept. 4 and will close at 6 p.m. sharp at Current River Park, Port Arthur and Cloverleaf Service, Cor. Pine Portage Rd. and* Hwy. 17. Prizes will be awarded at the platform in Current River Park at 6:30 p.m. Attendance prize will be at 15 1/2 Vanguard Corsair 60 complete with windshields, steering, navigational lights, deck hardware custom upholstery; 800 lbs. capacity Armson trailer, complete with winch, cable and tail light; 25 h.p. Scott outboard motor plus cruise-a-day tank. Winner need not be> present. FALLS 40 FEET A 50-year-old Nipigon man, Charles Kujala, narrowly missed, death last Wednesday when he fell 40 feet from the east end abuttment of the Nipigon River bridge. Mr. Kujala landed in soft sand suffering deep facial laceration and shock. He was carried up by Const. Clint Arthur and taken to Nipigon Memorial Hospital. Treated by Dr. E. R.
