Blake ; 52 years of age ; suddenly after feeling ill ; long and distinguished career with city ; began in 1933 in welfare department ; paymaster in 1935 ; went into the active army in 1940 ; upon return in 1945 rejoined city staff as deputy treasurer ; appointed treasurer in 1950 ; became first to hold newly created post of city administator in 1958 ; signalman with Royal Canadian Corps ; second lieutenant in 18th Medium Field Battery ; helped mobilize the 37th Field Battery, RCA ; staff captain ; promoted to major ; president of Ontario Municipal Association ; prime organizer of civil defence in Fort William ; Lakehead Industrial Commission ; manager city housing authority ; photo
