Pearson, Scoble, Gillies ; townships relied on Couch family for 38 years for mail delivery ; retiring ; retired from truck driving, school bus, and running store ; family history of postal service ; grandfather Moses Couch opened general store in Gillies 80 years ago ; included a post office ; in 1939 Couch and Sons awarded mail contract for transporting from Hymers ; also delivered mail to Pearson ; between 30 and 50 single boxes along the highways ; restricted during winter months ; all family members involved in delivery ; in 1979 Elsie took over South Gillies post office ; store was closed in 1985 ; photo
