6 NORSHORE SENTINEL â€" THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 1965 Personal Notes From The North Shore Districts ROSSPORT Mrs. Wm. Legault has left to visit relatives at the Lakehead. Mrs. Jos. King left Friday for her home in Port Arthur. Camilla Ann Todesco of Port Arthur, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Todesco. Mr. Hutchison and his pupils held a Halloween party in the school Friday afternoon. Bobbing for apples and other contests were enjoyed, followed by refreshments Rev. Father Brown said Mass at Pays Plat Mission Sunday evening. Wm. Schmelling and Alex Aultman are patients in Terrace Bay Hospital. Mrs. Lawrence Mushqush is a patient in Nipigon Hospital, and Mrs. Fred Auger in Lakehead hospital. Lome Molinski has returned from Manitouwadge. Mrs. C. W. Todesco accompanied her daughter to Windsor, Thursday. Most of the fishing tugs and launches are tied up for the season. This is the earliest that commercial fishing has been closed in the history of the fishing industry in the village. Beardmore Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. Motyl were Mrs. Motyl's father, Mr. J. A. Warrack, and her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas White, all of Bomanville. They had some successful bird hunting. Mrs. A. Dampier, vice-president of Beardmore Home and School Association, and Mrs. V. Poutanen attended the Home and School conference and workshop at Nipigon. They found it a strenuous, but rewarding day, and have considerable information for the next local meeting. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. McKechnie were Mrs. McKechnie's sister and niece, Mrs. P. Andruski and Carol, of Fort William, and another niece, Jacqueline Sherry, of Detroit, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. J. Henry, of Fort William, and son, David, are week-end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. Tansley. r Constable Bruce Dorigo, of Nipigon, with wife Donna, and four sons, have arrived in Beardmore. Constable Dorigo has taken Constable Jack Stewart's place with the O. P. P. Constable Stewart will be stationed in Nipigon. J Mr. and Mrs. Neil Nylund spent the week at the Lakehead. Schreiber Mrs. Harriet McBride announces the marriage of her daughter Shireen Ann to Mr. Robert Argyle Freed, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freed, Neepawa, Manitoba. The marriage took place in Terrace Bay Community Church on Sept. 16. Mrs. Jos. Campbell is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, Port Arthur. Mrs. Con Duggan is a patient in Terrace Bay Hospital. Mrs. J. Corbett, Mrs. W. Miller and Mrs. D. A. Slater left Tuesday for Toronto. Mrs. Slater will attend the Education and Publicity Conference of the Canadian Cancer Society. Dorion Attending the District Guide and Brownie Rally in Nipigon Sunday, Oct. 30 were 10 guides and 11 brownies of Dorion along with Mrs. Margaret Harris, Lieutenant and Mrs. Norma Kay, Captain, of the Girl Guides and Mrs. Brenda Husilik, Brown Owl and Mrs. Betty Boulter, Tawny Owl of the Brownies. The girls participated in a church parade while there. Later in the day the Guides and Brownies enjoyed lunch served in the Public School. Members of the Dorion Do Sa Do Club surprised Mr. and Mrs. John Husilik on Tuesday evening by having a housewarming for them in their new home. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Atkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rivers, Florence Skripnyk, Wilfred Muloin, Arnold Littlefield, Ed and Gordon Boulter, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Swanson, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Boulter, Mrs. Mary Swanson. An evening of square dancing was enjoyed. On behalf of the Do-Sa-Do Club Elmer Swanson presented the couple with a table lamp. Lunch was served by the ladies of the club. Mrs. H. Brown is visiting her parents in eastern Ontario. She was called home due to the illness of her younger brother. The Dorion Consolidated School children collected fifty-one dollars in their penny race for the Unicef children. Lorraine Harris is a patient in St. Joseph’s hospital. Nipigon The Brownies of Nipigon wish to thank the townspeople for their splendid support in their chick-let sale. It was such an outstanding success the leaders plan to make it an annua event. Special thanks to Mr. Nick Vickruck for his advertising at the Plaza theatre. Three leaders went to training session held in First Church United, Fort William, on October 28, 29, 30. Those attending were Packie Marilyn Whent, Brown Owl Mrs. E. Wright, and Mrs. H. Clearwater. Special speakers at the session were Mrs. Finch and Mrs. Bushey, of the Lakehead, and Miss Lamb of Australia. The packs are reported to be the largest in history and are under the capable leadership of Mrs. Rose Skillen, Brown Owl of Pack 2 with her Packies Marilyn Whent, Pattie Risk and Isabel Martin, who meet on Tuesdays. Pack 1 with Mrs. E. Wright as Brown Owl, meets Wednesdays with her packies Susan Skillen, Pat Huminicki, Elvi Whent and Natalka Onyshkewych. Hurkett Mrs. V. Armitage has purchased a home in the Lakehead and will be moving soon. Eddie Symankaviez has returned from hospital where he underwent surgery. They feel it is necessary to keep the population aware of what to do in case of nuclear attack here or in neighboring New England states. Montreal (CP)â€"Abraham Grober, 16, returned to his home in Israel after spending a year in Canada to learn, English. His brother Samuel, 17, plans to remain here another year. Abraham said he was impressed most by the friendliness of Canadians.
