The Variety Shoppe opens Its doors officially Thursday morning. It will be open from 8 a.m. until 12 midnight carrying a complete line of needs from camera service to coffee bar including sheet music records, drug needs, toiletries, candy, ice cream etc. The Wirtz family moved to Red Rock last February from Marathon. Gunter was employed in Chappies store until he decided there was a definite need for a 'variety shop' in Red Rock. Gunter and Jane, who teaches music, have four children, John, 5 1/2 David, 4, Paul, 3 and Gladys, 1 1/2 years. The Wirtz' have been married for seven years and previously resided in Fort Frances before moving to Marathon. Gunter is a cook by trade. The coffee bar will feature milk shakes, coffee, donuts and pastries, toast and coffee etc. The Wirtz' had the idea of a variety shop last fall but had to wait until an option to lease! the premises, owned by Maurice Thompson of Nipigon was up.
