Congratulations to Olga and Les Culbert who kept up the tradition of the OPP Nipigon force this past week with the addition of a baby boy to their family, a brother for Dean. No doubt Bruce and Donna Dorigo would have been banished from the ‘club’ when their last offspring turned out to be an adorable baby girl, much to mother's relief. The Dorigo's are now stationed in Beardmore. Reg Williams of Beaver Lumber Co., Nipigon recently attended a two day "Window Workshop" at the Anderson Corp., manufacturers of Anderson Windowalls at Bayport, Minnesota. Tne workshop included a trip through the plant, which is the largest in the world devoted entirely to the manufacture of window units. The next day and; a half was spent learning how windows affect the livability of a home. Mrs. Helmi Kirsila of Nipigon left for Finland by plane April 11 from Fort William after 10 years in Canada. She will visit tier daughter and grandchildren who last fall lost their father by drowning. Good luck Helmi on your trip. Unfortunately young Thomas “makes" the column again this * week. Tommy, who was bitten by a dog, had a skin graft operation last week. As so often happens to active youngsters, Tommy banged his nose necessitating another operation. Hope this is the last for his sake and his poor parents! Mrs. H.H. Holland returned to Winnipeg Sunday after spending 11 days ‘manning the fort' at the McOuat residence. Father Palmer was guest speaker at the regular meeting of St. Mary's W.A., Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. F. Walker. Father Palmer's address touched on the following subjects. W.A. importance, the teaching of 12 Indian laymen in B.C., the Pan Anglican worldwide Conference to be held in Toronto in the summer of 1963, and the new English translation of the Bible. Mrs. Anna Ashworth introduced the speaker and Mrs. R. Atwill opened the meeting with a Bible reading and prayers. During the business portion a resume of the G.A. trip to the Soo was given by Mrs. Georgia Daniher and thanks was tendered to the W.A. on their behalf. It was moved that the men of the Vestrey be told to go ahead with the new kneelers for the church. Mrs. Daniher will look after cleaning the church in May ana there will be a spring cleaning bee on May 11. Mrs. Viola Assad read some items on the prayer partners. Mrs. Lydia Braslins will be hostess to the next meeting. Following the adjournment of the meeting, lunch was served by the hostess. This month our library walls are decorated with paintings. done by Mrs. Lorraine Wilson, Mr. Bernice Laurila and Mrs. Georgia Daniher from the Nipigon Art Club. Don't forget the Hospital Auxiliary meeting April 25 in the Board room at the Hospital. Plans will be finalized for the Tag Day to be held in May at this meeting. Group 1 of Nipigon United church W.A. held a successful ‘coffee break' Saturday in the church basement with ‘no thanks to the weatherman!’ This is Library Week - visit your Library this week and every week hereafter. The Library belongs to the tax payer; it is there for all to make use of arid the service is free to all. The Library has a large selection of books to fill the reading needs of most everyone. The stock of books now include a variety in the Finnish, French, Polish and Ukrainian languages. The Library consists of 11 units of 100 books each and three of four different units are changed every four months to bring a change to the assortment of books on hand. There are 764 books owned by the Library itself and many of these have been received through donations. The circulation of our Library for the past year has been 14,460 books'. At present there are 254 active members and these are composed of 105 adults, 144 children and five non-residents.
