JAMES E. ISBESTER P.ENG. P.O. BOX 38 ARNPRIOR. ONTARIO K78 3H2 Page 3. James Isbester Exhibit Number Two, Volume 3 James Isbester Exhibit Number Three, Volume 3 James Isbester Exhibit Number Four, Volume 3 James Isbester Exhibit Number Five, Volume 3. 10. As explanation for my interest in the name Isbester's Landing the C.P.R, contractor James Isbester was my Grandfather. My Father, Alexander John "Lexie" Isbester, the second child of James Isbester made his home at Port Arthur commencing about the year 1912 when he became District Engineer for the Canadian Northern Ontario Railway (presently part of Canadian National Railways) in charge of construction of the new railway line being built between Port Arthur and Hornepayne. He later became District Engineer for the Ontario Government's Department of Northern Development which was the predecessor of the Department of Highways in Northern Ontario. 11. Accompanying this as Alexander John Isbester Exhibit Number One, Volume 2 is his obituary notice when he died at Port Arthur in January, 1942. 12. I was born at Port Arthur in 1914, attended Pine Street Public School, Port Arthur Technical and Commercial High School and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1940 as a Mining Engineer. You will understand why I take personal satisfaction as a third generation member who has participated in some small way in development at the Lakehead. 12. All the above constitutes a somewhat lengthy discourse. However, I am sure you would agree that every effort should be made to either substantiate or correct knowledge of the origins of the name Isbester's Landing before what could become a corruption of historical fact becomes the accepted, even if incorrect, part of local history. Yours sincerely, James E. Isbester.
