Page 2. 7. The ringed notation handwritten on the left hand side and toward the bottom of the attestation is not understood. It is dated October 11, 1899- James Isbester died September 3, 1899. Possibly the ringed notation played some role in finalizing his estate. 8. It should be noted that John Isbester, James Isbester*s father, was using the Isbester spelling of the name, not the Isbister spelling, inl877. Also that James Isbester, born June 29, 1838, spelled with an e rather than an i, was the name in the register of the Parish of Evie, County of Orkney. This strongly suggests that the name Isbester, spelled with an e, is a variant of the name Isbister, spelled with an i, rather than being an error in the spelling. 9. It is not known definitely if John Isbester and his wife Mary Vellion had any other children, either before they came to Canada or after their arrival . I can vaguely remember my Father, Alexander John Isbester, saying that his Father, James Isbester, was believed to have had a brother who ran away from home to the sea when he was quite a young man. What became of him was never known, at least so far as my Father ever knew. 10. I can also very vaguely remember old Mr. Benger, who owned and operated Bengers Grocery Store in Port Arthur telling my Father that he (Benger) had taken over his grocery business from a Malcolm Isbester during the Canadian Pacific Railway construction days. Mr. Benger said that this Malcolm Isbester was a brother of the C. P. R. contractor James Isbester.
