Notes - Exhibit Number Two 1. Each of the old photographs is mounted on a heavy cardboard photographic mount. Printed on the back of each of the mounts is: Henry & Norman Photographers Port Arthur Ont. 2. Other than being on "James Isbester's C.P.R. Contract" the location of the site from where the old photographs were taken is not identified. 3. On the back of one of the heavy cardboard mounts on which the old photographs are mounted but not on the other one, handwritten in ink, is 1884. Since James Isbester was known to have been working on his C.P.R. Contract along the north shore of Lake Superior during the years 1883 - 1885 the 1884 on the back of one of the photographic mounts strongly suggests that the photpgraph was taken in the year 1884. 4. The horse drawn vehicle which can be seen on the left of the photograph appears to be running along wooden rails. Undoubtedly it was used to transport broken rock which had been excavated from cut sections for the railway grade to where the rock was needed to build up fill sections. 5 . While the exact location of the trestle being erected is not provided it is believed that this photograph looks generally eastward from about general Map Reference 751058 as found on Map Sheet 42/14W Schreiber as issued by the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources at Ottawa. The trestle being erected was known as "Horseshoe Trestle" and it was located some four miles west of Isbester's Landing, the present day town of Schreiber.
