The Canadian Northern was "building easterly from Winnipeg on its way to Port Arthur at the head of Lake Superior and the Rainy River - Fort Francis section was completed in October, 1901 . Construction work on this section of the line must have started earlier than that. 7. It would appear possible that James Isbester could have been involved in Canadian Northern Railway construction in the vicinity of Rainy River at the time of his death in September, 1899.
