Notes - Exhibit Number Nine 1. Since James Isbester was born in June, 1838 he would have been 6l years of age at the time of his death in September, 1899, not 59 years old as the newspaper clipping says. 2. While James Isbester did participate in the construction of Section B of the Canadian Pacific Railway, Section B was in the vicinity of Rat Portage (now Kenora) between Winnipeg and Port Arthur (now part of Thunder Bay) and not along the north shore of Lake Superior as stated in the newspaper clipping. 3. It was following construction of Section B (circa 1879 - 1883) that James Isbester carried out his Canadian Pacific Railway construction contract along the north shore of Lake Superior (circa 1883 - 1885) in the vicinity of Schreiber, Ontario. 4. The newspaper clipping says that James Isbester died at Winnipeg while he was on his way home to Ottawa following an inspection of a railway construction project that he had underway in the Rainy River district. The clipping also says that James Isbester had completed contract work on the Crow's Nest Pass the previous spring. 5. I have memories of my Father, Alexander John Isbester, saying that his Father, James Isbester, had died at Winnipeg while he was on his way home to Ottawa following inspection of his work in progress at the Crow's Nest Pass in British Columbia. It not known which version is correct. Possibly both are correct.
