Since Menote Isbester, the third child of James Isbester and his wife Anna Marie Fraser, having been born at Rat Portage in 1882 and their fourth child James Arthur Isbester having been born at Port Arthur in 1884, this suggests that at some time between 1882 and 1884 James Isbester with his family moved from Rat Portage to Port Arthur. It would have been while working out of Port Arthur that James Isbester carried out his contract for Canadian Pacific Railway construction in the vicinity of what is now Schreiber, Ontario, along the north shore of Lake Superior. The original name for Schreiber had been Isbester's Landing where James Isbester had had his construction camp. 14. The "last spike" of that section of the Canadian Pacific Railway between Montreal and Winnipeg was driven on May 16, 1885, near the Blackbird River, some 14 miles or so east of present day Schreiber. It is presumed that it must have been at some time after May, 1885, or on into 1886 that the Isbester family returned, back to Ottawa where they made their home at 173 Daly Avenue in the Sandy Hill District of the City. 15. Following their move back to Ottawa and until his death in 1899, James Isbester carried out railway construction contracts in various other parts of Canada. Included among these was work on the Cape Breton Island extension of the Intercolonial Railway and work on the Canadian Pacific Railway's line through the Crow's Nest Pass in British Columbia. During this time, however, it is believed that he maintained his home at Ottawa. 16. The Canadian Pacific Railway branch line from Sudbury to Sault Ste. Marie was completed and was opened for traffic in late 1888. Some 25 miles or so east of Sault Ste. Marie on this branch line there is a passing track, or siding, Isbester, named after James Isbester. It is not known whether James Isbester ever did any construction work on this Sudbury - Sault Ste.
