- Description
- Colour postcard showcasing Lakehead University and Thunder Bay. This postcard was distributed by the Northland Specialty Postcard Co. Ltd. and the back reads "University of the 'Inland Sea': The Lakehead University Act, 1965, was given Royal Assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario on June 22, 1965, and came into force on July 1, 1965. Thunder Bay's harbour is one of Canada's third largest and is serviced by ocean-going ships (through the St. Lawrence Seaway). The grain elevators seen on the shoreline represent the greatest concentration of grain in the world (110,000,000 bushels). 11 knm (18 miles) away on the horizon lies the fabled 'Sleeping Giant'".
