I did not say that a "dog can I was pleased to see a letter in last week's Gazette by Mrs. Elizabeth Harding criticizing a previous one of mine; I would have been much happier, however, had she taken the time to read the actual by-laws in question ( as is her right as a taxpayer). The intent of my letter was not to score a "point on behalf of dog lovers", but to be- shot on sight by just anyone" as Mrs. Harding has implied; my information was taken directly from the above-named by-laws. Section 10 (1), subsection (d), of By-Law No. 557 states: "Nothing on this section shall prevent the immediate killing of any dog found running at large contrary to the provisions of this By-Law". There are no "exceptions" such as a dog accidentally getting let loose, etc. Section 9 of By-Law No. 557 spates no dog may be allowed in any street, alley, etc. "Unless such dog is either muzzled or held by some competent person by a chain or other fastening". RATTLINGS by bones The other day my children brought a note home from school with some statistics on the condition of childrens teeth in Thunder Bay compared to other parts of the province.
