Oliver and Leonard was to look into the purchase of a club antenna. It was decided to subscribe to the S9 Magazine. The club is hoping to be able to using their own club members for the upcoming Fall Fishing Festival in September, for radio communication, Matt Saari was to arrange this with the Legion, Branch 32.- It was decided to purchase NSCB letters for the vehicles, to be given to new members of the club after their 3 months probation period. NEW LEGISLATION REQUIRES LOCAL VD REPORTING Ontario physicians are now required to report all cases of venereal disease directly to their local medical officer of health. The report, required by new legislation, must be filed within 24 hours and be sent to the Minister of Health by the local MOH within one week. The Venereal Diseases Prevention Amendment Act, 1971, simplifies this reporting procedure in order to streamline tracing of all venereal disease contacts and ensure prompt treatment of enfected persons. Patient confidentiality is still maintained. Reports can now be made by the doctor to his medical officer of health in writing, by telephone or in person. VD reporting in the past by private physicians has been lax, according to the Honourable Richard T. Potter, M. D., Ontario's new Minister of Health. "The new, less time-consuming procedure should improve results," he said, "That's what we are working toward." The amendment Broadens the term "venereal diseases" to include syphilis, gonorrhoea, chancroid, granuloma inguinale and lymphogranuloma venereum. It enables physicians to examine and treat for venereal disease any person 16 years of age or over, with that person's consent only. It also provides that no action or proceeding can be taken against the physician for acting upon consent of a person under 16 years of age, if the physician has no reason to believe that the person giving consent is under that age. NIP-ROCK GLADIATORS MAT CHAMPS AGAIN Last year's wrestling team made probably the best showing any team had made in the history of the school as they won 8 firsts and 4 seconds in the NS-SSAA meet. But at this year's tournament, which was held at the High School, they did even better as they carried away 9 firsts, 3 seconds and 3 thirds. Gearldton, Manitouwadge and Wawa each entered bigger and stronger teams this year and action was fast and furious. In the 90 lb. division, Arthur Laframboise and David Potinteau finished 1st and 2nd but were hard pressed by 3rd place finished Jack Rodack of Geraldton. Our 98 lb. dynamo, Billy Gregorchuk, had little trouble winning his division as he pinned both opponents. Darrel Puphal-ski, also pinned all comers to win the 106 lbs title. An injury prevented Dale Silta from defending his North Shore Crown at 115 lbs. However, Dale has beaten both the Geraldton wrestlers earlier this year Raymond Seguin was the class of the 123 lbs. division as he pinned 3 and won 1 decision to finish first; Terry Mahoney 'also finished third in this division. The 130 lb. division was the closets of them all. Mike Gregorchuk won a hard fought decision over last year 123 lbs. champ, Dave O'Halleron of Manitouwadge, but because of an earlier loss to Jim Haney of Wawa, finished 3rd. On the basis of penalty point, O'Halleron finished 1st, Haney 2nd and Gregorchuk, 3rd. Robert Hannula clearly out-wrestled his opponent at 136 lbs. but got tired and sick towards the end and lost. Kevin Sands repeated as North Shore champ at 141 lbs, Kurt Pristanski won thel48 lb. division by pinning both opponents from Manitouwadge. At 157 lbs. David Aubut and Mack Kirton finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Ken Kylander made an unfortunate mistake in the 168 lb. final and was pinned. Roman Kowalczyszyn pinned Detlef Jung of Manitouwadge to win the 178 lb. division. John Harper and Erich Ganth won the 194 lb. and heavyweight divisions by default. . There will only be public , skating on Friday, Feb. 25th from 7 p.m. to 9 p. m. There will also be more hockey action in the Nipigon Arena on March 1st, 1,972 between Marathon land Nip-Rock Rangers.
