- Description
- This is a handwritten manuscript of the codicil Hiram Capron added to his will, adding new provisions and changing some which existed in the original document. He revises his gift to his sons Banfield and William and makes more explicit arrangements for his wife and daughters. He also sets out his directions for the sale of his properties and furniture, and instructs his executors to wait up to five years before selling his properties in order to avoid sacrificing value by selling too hastily.
This is an earlier and different codicil from the one which would be used in probate of his estate following his death in 1872. The text of his final will and codicil can be found in typewritten form in 2005.0015.02.11, linked to on the right. - Date of Original
