- The Grand River Heritage Mines Society was active from 1993 through 2005 with the goal of identifying and documenting all of the historic mines located within the Grand River valley. These newsletters document their activities, including archaeological digs and research into mine history. This issue was the first to be published under the title The Walking Question Mark.
This issue includes:
- mining trivia by Mike O'Byrne
- an article about the Martindale mine by Ilse Kraemer
- an article on a Wilfrid Laurier University course covering the Grand Valley by Al Robson
- an article on Mount Olivet by Ilse Kraemer
- an article on the Garland-Carson-Mutchmore mines by Jean Farquharson
