Burtch Family History

My grandmother was Ethel Burtch married to Fred Houlding in the 1800's. That is all I know.

My 4x great grandparents were Hiram and Rachel (Hull) Burtch. They lived in Ont. Ca. Rachel passed away shortly after giving birth. I know they had at least two sons one of wich was my 3x great grandfather Jacob Nathan Burtch. After Rachels passing, Hiram remarried to a lady named Sarah E. Sharp. They then moved to Brant Mi. (Saginaw county) I believe that Jacob was the only child from Hirams previous marriage to Rachel to come to Michigan with them. Jacob "Nathan" (as he preffered) joined the army for the civil war at the age of 16 or 17 and was arrested for lying about his age. He done this because him and his stepmother (Sarah) couldn't get along. When he returned from imprisonment he married Mary Jane Pine. I believe the had 10 children and they continued to reside in Brant Mi. until their deaths. Their son John Burtch was my 2x great grandfather John married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Mcdougall and they too resided in Brant Mi.. They had three Children. Two daughter Nellie and Lottie and a son Hiram "Jack" Burtch ( My great grandfather). Hiram married Norma Schubring and as well lived in Brant Mi. until their deaths. The also had three children Donald, Geraldine and Robert. Donald was my grandfather. He married Wilma Knowles. They lived in Burt Mi. They had three children Donald jr. (My father), Randall and daughter Michelle. My father Donald married my mother Cheryl A. (Wirt) Burtch on Jan. 20 1973. They had myself and my sister Roxann (now Leadford). I first married Brenda (Gath). Brenda had one child from aprevious relationship. She and I had two children together Melody and Michael. I later had another son (after our divorce) with another woman that sons name is Daniel Fuller. After that relationship failed, I married a woman named Leona (Wagner). She has three sons from a previous relationship. We have no children in common.

My grandmother was Effie Burtch, daughter of David Burtch. My first ancestor in Canada was Stephen Burtch. There is a lot missing in the above entry

One of the great things about this collection is how people are able to provide the information they have which can then be built upon by others with more to share in the future. If you are able to elaborate on what is missing, I’m sure it would be much appreciated by those interested in learning more about the Burtch family.

This document needs to be edited!! Thomas Birch born in 1588 did NOT have all these children!!!! This Thomas Birch had three children Anne, Jane, and Robert. This Thomas Birch was born November 17, 1588, in Lancashire, England, and died August 3, 1657, in Dorchester, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

The correct Thomas Birch was born May 15, 1617, in Topsham, Exeter, Devon, England, and died May 8, 1657, in Dorchester, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He was married to Carson Shroeder.
