- Description
- This photograph shows G.F. Devlin's Store as it was in 1909. It shows that the automobile had not yet made its presence felt in Mount Pleasant - note the hitching posts in the front, and the buggy that can be seen behind the building to the far left. This photograph was printed on page 212 of The Work of Our Hands by Sharon Jaeger, and was provided by Linda Guest.
This store was the birthplace of Premier Arthur Sturgis Hardy in 1837, when the store still belonged to the Hardy family. - Inscriptions
