YES I DO RECOGNIZE MY SISTER IN THE SECOND ROW 3RD FROM THE RIGHT WITH THE LONG RINGLETS.
I can give you the names of all but 5 or 6. I know because I was in that class and am in that picture.
I am just not sure of the best format to use to send it. Perhaps by mail. To whom should I send it?

Re Picture Grade 1 -1941 No more names at this point but I do have a further comment about the picture. The title is incorrect. This is actually Grade 2 in 1942. (I know the picture was incorrectly named in D.A Smith's book.) IT probably doesn't matter to anybody at all at this stage but just in case you have some historians or some readers who are sticklers for historical accuracy, I thought that I should mention it. Miss O' Dell was our Grade 2 teacher. Miss Shannon taught Grade 1. ( I have a picture of this same group, along with Miss Shannon, taken in Grade 1). I know from my birth date and from an old report card that I was in Grade 1 in 1940/41 and Grade 2 in 1941/42. The flowers in the foreground of the picture would indicate that it was taken in the Spring so that would be Spring 1942. This also means that those kids were generally in the Age 7 range. Some may have thought they looked pretty mature for 6 year olds. I hope I am able to get a couple more names. Ken Phipps
Hi Ken,
Thanks for all the information you've shared! I will have the image title corrected to reflect your input. I really appreciate your help--it's your type of contribution that makes this site so great!

Hi Christine. It has taken a while but we have 3 more names and a couple of first name changes. The girl at the right hand end of Row2 is Shirley Duncan. The 2 boys in the 3rd row in the 2nd and 3rd spots repectively are Ron Mair and George Fair. In the first row ,left end, the girls name is Joan Simons. not Shirley. In the 2nd row 5th from the left, that should be Shirley Gibson, not Barbara.
That leaves 2 people without names. I had help from 3 people, all of whom are in the picture. They are Don Wilkin, Yvonne Sinclair(Kempthorne) and Peter Smith, Peter's father wrote the book from which the picture was taken and apparently he also took these school pictures. I think that is the best we can do for now. Ken Phipps
This is wonderful, Ken! Thanks for working to name these students.

Regarding Peter Lusk at the end of row 3. Was his mother Marjorie Lusk and his father Cameron Lusk? My grandmother was the sister of Cameron and I would like to trace the Lusk family tree if Peter was their son. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thank you.
John Muckler is in the back row around the middle .Tall and blonde with a striped shirt.1 am his wife and I recognized him right away.First time seeing it.We came back to Paris this summer to show grandchildren where the dad lived and saw a beautiful town!!
