This Indenture made the fourth ----------- day of January one thousand eight hundred and fifty three in presence of the Act to facilitate the conveyance of real property Between Hugh Finlayson of the Village of Paris in the County of Brant and Province of Canada Esquire George McVicar of the same place [illegible] and James Montgomery of the same place [illegible] of the first part and Joanna Finlayson Martha McVicar and Catharine Montgomery of the same place the several times of the said parties of the first part of the second part lend the Municipality of the Village of Paris in the County aforesaid Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds of lawful money of Canada new paid by the said party of hte third part to the said party of the first part / the receipt whereof is hereby by then acknowledged ) the said party of the First party do hereby grant [illegible] the said party of the Third part then [illgible] and assigns Forever All and singular that certain parcal or part of land and premises situate lying and [?ang] in the Village of Paris in the County of [B........] of the Province of Canada and known as part of the norht half of lot number six or Burnwell that in the said VIllage and bounded on the West by the lot now on the occupation of Thomas Watson and running in an Easterly [????tion] Eighty five feet with a uniform width of fourt one feet and one quarter To have And to hold unto the saud party of the third part they [illegible] and [illegible] and for [th???] and [th???] sole used only [illegible] forever Subject Nevertheless the [illegible] limitations persons and Conditions expressed in the [??ginal] grant thereof from the [illegible] The said party of hte First part [coven????] [illegible] the said party of the third part that said party has the right to convey the said lands to the said lands to the said party of the third part [ho????standing] any act of the said party of the first part and that the said party of the third part shall have [illegible] possession of the said lands free from all [illegible] [??aces] And that the said party of the first part will Execute such further assurances of the said lands as maybe be requisite And that such party will produce the title deeds [illegible] [??under] and allow copies to be made of them at the Expense of the said party of the third part And that the said party of the First part has done no Act to encumber the said [illegible] And the said party of the First part releases the said party of the third part all their claims [illegible] the said lands and the [illegible] parties of the second part [illegible] of the said parties of the First part hereby Bar their Doller in the said lands

- In this 1853 indenture, Hugh Finlayson, George McVicar, James Montgomery and their wives Joanna Finlayson, Martha McVicar and Catharine Montgomery sold a strip of land located in the north half of Lot 6 by Burwell Street to the Municipality of the Village of Paris in exchange for £20. This area was 41.25 feet wide and 82 feet deep.
