Dear Ida:
It is really too
bad that I [have been] so
long in sending your
another tie [illegible] piece
[pattern] but I have truly
been so very, very busy since
I came [illegible]
been impossible to [illegible]
before & [illegible] I have just
got home & it is quite
late I [determined] to write
you to night - your Pa
was in on Saturday but
I thought I had better
Page 2:
write & explain to you
as [illegible] do not [illegible]
[illegible] such things
I went down to see Mrs
[illegible] last week she
had no [pattern] but
her own & your mother
has seen before.
The latest style is a
[illegible] straight across
the top of the [window]
from twelve to sixteen
inches deep with [illegible]
on the bottom or a
[illegible] of some other
[illegible]
[illegible] they would be
very pretty on a bay-
window - will send
Page 3:
a pattern of the [illegible]
[illegible] she has in her
room it is very pretty
but the [illegible]
so simple & requires
but little material
some sew brass or silver
rings on the top & sup-
port them by a pole
others just [illegible] sleeve
to the top of the window
there can you under-
stand any thing about
it by very descriptive
[illegible] have
kept up a constant chat-
ter ever since I started
to write. I can not [realize]
that [illegible] is to leave us
Page 4:
so soon a week from
next Wednesday
Have you [discovered]
your letter yet?
I have had two or three
interruptions since I
sat down to write &
it is now past twelve
so I will have to close
will send pattern by
[illegible] mail write
soon & tell me how
you are getting on
I hope you are [illegible]
in your new house it
is dreadfully cold in
[here]
Good night
pleasant dreams
