- Description
- This is a black and white photograph of a group of workers, posing for the picture, at the South River Lumber Company, circa 1920. The workers are standing or sitting in front of the lumber yard's storage depot, in front of which is a number of railway tracks in which the lumber is loaded on. The building is two floors, and is open (has no sides), with only a roof for cover. The building runs the length of the picture, and it has a long deck or porch along the length of it to place the lumber. Behind the building is three smoke stacks. Most of the men are sitting or standing on the porch, while some are below them on the tracks. They're all wearing work clothes, mostly overalls or pants and suspenders.
