In This Booklet This booklet was made to celebrate the Centennial of the Village of Sundridge 1889 to 1989. The information written in this booklet was gleaned mainly from the files of the Burks Falls Arrow and the Sundridge Echo, and later the Almaguin News. Most of the articles are straight reprints, with several shortened due to length. It is unfortunate that the newspaper files of the Arrow and Echo prior to 1949 were destroyed, so none of that probable wealth of material was available to us. Also some of the photos were not available so we have done the best that we could with what we have. We would like to thank Mrs. Patricia Lee of the Sundridge Centennial Committee for supplying us with some of the old photographs, which add to the interest of the readers. Actually we hope that this booklet will help revive in a little way some of the memories of Sundridge history. For a more in-depth look at Sundridge's history, Mrs. Patricia Lee's book, assisted by Mrs. Alice May Robins, "The Lake in the Hills" is an excellent source of historical reading, and is fascinating to read, so make sure you pick up a copy. Congratulations, Sundridge, on your 100th Birthday and may you have many more! GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY BALL: The Golden Anniversary Ball held in Sundridge recently to celebrate the fiftieth year of Lions International brought forth many interesting costumes. Shown here, from left, are Mr. Fred Johnstone and Mr. and Mrs. David Johnstone. The costumes worn by Pat and David were made by Mrs. Johnstone. David is a past president of the Sundridge Lions Club. This photo was taken from the March 23rd, 1967 edition of the Almaguin News. Photo by Lloyd Gough
