Dedication This history book is dedicated to all those who have contributed to the life of Katrine United Church over the past century. Through their dedication and love, our little country church continues to thrive and to provide peace, comfort and friendship to all who visit. In particular, we note the contribution of the Katrine Lumber Company Limited which, two years after the church was established, provided a tract of land for the church building for the princely sum of one dollar. We also recognize the contribution of the original trustees of the Katrine congregation of the Methodist Church - John Wesley Sutherland, John Barlow, Esly Casselman, Wright Casselman and William Sutherland. We remember also Mr. Belding, who donated the lumber for the original church construction and the group who built the church, led by Robert Cooper and Mr. Thorpe. We acknowledge with appreciation the older families of the church — the Benns, Blains, Brears, Coopers, Nan Fraser, Griffins, Healeys, Langlands, Lillian Millar, Neals, Northcotes, Passmores, Florence Purdie, Roehls, Rumfords, Sturleys, and VanDuzens. Our summer residents also have been long-time supporters -” the Austens, Harringtons, Hutchinsons, Littles, Mahoneys and Marshalls. Special note is due regarding Rev. Willson, who single-handedly, in 1950, reinstated the Katrine United Church from summer use only to a church holding worship services throughout the year. He personally installed the roof which was needed at the time and preached for a salary that came solely from the offerings at each service. We also acknowledge the group which, over the years, has provided the practical help and continuity to church and community life - the Katrine United Church Women. 3 The cross dominates the sanctuary of Katrine United Church.
