I remember Pete the Bear well. As a little kid I visited my Grandmother Mrs. Walter J Parker (Clara) at Berriedale and for fun the family thought it would do me a little good to be in the cage with Pete. The Purkies were relatives so off I went to play with the bear the bear got the better of me.
My mother was Stella Parker - oldest child of Clara and Walter Parker and I am related to most people in the area with the name North, Parker, Ireland, Purdie and many more that I do not remember.
